Patient First Ready to support GPs

A recent BBC survey has suggested that there are mixed opinions, amongst doctors who may have responsibility under the new health service reforms, over the changes in budgetary control and the benefit to patients, with the majority doubtful over their ability to take control of commissioning in key areas.

However, the Department of Health has indicated that the lead in time for the reforms, some two and a half years away, will mean that there is sufficient time to bed in new commissioning arrangements and provide the support needed by GPs.

Patient First’s Matt Larkin is keeping a watching brief on developments ‘ There’s no doubt that change is coming with the anticipated Health Bill will be due any day now. Patient First is well geared to deal with changes in this complex and highly regulated environment, and is keen to understand the changes going forward.’

He further commented ‘We continue to work closely with Hospitals and PCT’s and will provide whatever support we can to commissioning GP’s and practices as the deadline for change nears.’

Patient First provides patient transfer services throughout Shropshire, Herefordshire and the Midlands, and is part of NSL Care Services.
