The next Patient First HSE Emergency First Aider at Work (1 Day) course has been announced for 17th Sept 2010

This course aims to teach the skills and knowledge of Emergency First Aider at Work in accordance with the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981

This course, which gives a three year Emergency First Aider at Work certificate for the participant, aims to teach the skills and knowledge of emergency first aid

If you are self-employed, you are required to ensure you have adequate equipment to provide first aid to yourself while at work. For lower risk organisations e.g. shops, offices, libraries with fewer than 50 employees law requires at least one First Aider. For medium risk organisations e.g. light engineering, assembly work, food processing, warehousing who have fewer than 20 employees the law requires at least one Emergency First Aider at Work. Higher risk organisations e.g. construction, slaughterhouses, chemical manufacture, extensive work with dangerous machinery or sharp instruments where there are fewer than five employees require at least one First Aider.

This type of course is critical to saving life and minimising the severity of injury or sudden illness. Safety awareness and accident prevention are emphasised throughout.
